The Strayan's Survival Guide to Skyforge [Part 1 - The Interface]

The Strayan's Survival Guide to Skyforge

Part 1: Understanding the Basics - Interface

As many of you know, Skyforge is a Free-to-Play MMO made by My.Com. A lot of people may feel decieved by some of what people think about it, but honestly, I do not find the whole paying aspect that bad at all. This is the Strayan's Survival Guide to Skyforge, composed into several parts to not make giant walls of text on each part.

This first part covers the actual basics of Skyforge. Or as I like to talk about it. The Interface.

PART 1: The Interface

Click on the image to zoom in the image.

1 (Orange) - The chat box.

Press ENTER (default key), then the UP ARROW key to change chat channels.

You can select from the following channels:
Region (the chat where you can chat with other players, or in the Divine Observatory, to find groups or seek for groups).
Vicinity (for people nearby each other that doesn't want people to see their chat in a global channel). Straya (in this case) for Pantheon chat (which if you have played World of Warcraft, those are considered Guilds).

Below that in the yellow symbol is your current Prestige. Prestige is your character's power level, essentially.

2 (Yellow) - The Health and Class Bar.

The red bar represents your health. If the red bar drops to 0, you are considered dead and can only revive if you or your group (if in a group) are not in combat.

The blue bar is your class resource bar. Each class in Skyforge has a different set of abilities that utalize the blue bar. Also, each classes blue bar is named differently to represent each class. For example, I'm playing the Archer in this picture, and Archer's blue bars are labeled as Concentration. Each class has a different name.

3 (Yellow) - Abilities per Class

The numbers and the letter keys represent class abilities. You learn these from the Ascension Atlas of that class. In the start of your Skyforge adventure, you will only have access to 3 classes, the Paladin (Tank), the Cryomancer (Ice DPS), or the Lightbinder (Support). Later on, you will unlock the ability to unlock many more classes, but that will be covered in a different part of the Survival Guide.

4 (Green) - The Mini Map

The minimap is a condensed map for your area. Use this to navigate areas quicker and easier. This cannot be hidden as far as I know, but it is very useful and tells you where certain targets are found as well (denoted by a red shield icon for quests, or red skulls for bosses).

5 and 6 (Light Blue) - Quests Panel

The Quests Panel is split into three different colors.

  • White quests are story mission quests. These always award you Spark Replicators, and are unlocked as you continue to upgrade your character's prestige. Sometimes, these also unlock new adventures as well.
  • Yellow quests are optional mission quests. These always award you one of two items: Celestial Threads (if you are credit capped) or Ether Cores (explained in a different part of the guide). When you complete a yellow quest, a new quest will appear in the Divine Observatory's Argus System after several hours from completing it. Plus, when you are in the Observatory, the Argus System that (either mocks you or doesn't) will tell you that "You Have a New Quest!".
  • Green quests are only relevant for Squads, Invasions, or Group missions. They tell you to kill bosses, or deal damage to certain things in the instance. To complete a squad mission, group mission, or invasion mission, simply do the order that the Green quest tells you to do.
7 (Purple) - Hotkey Panel

(This is in order from Left to Right and are the default key bindings unless you change them in game.)

  • I - Inventory / Abilities / Character / Equipment - This panel will be explained more in depth in Part 6.
  • K - Ascension Atlas - Described in Part 10 in massive detail.
  • c+X - Combat Log - You must be in your inventory tab to be able to click this button. Shows combat logs from battles you have fought in and your DPS (Damage Per Second) rating as well.
  • O - Pantheon Tab - Described in Part 4 in detail.
  • M - World Map - Opens a larger scale map of the zone you are in.
  • Y - Chat Tab - Allows you an alternative way to switch chat tabs, and also lets you change channels this way. Described in Part 5 in detail.
  • N - Market Tab - Unlike some MMOs, Skyforge uses a Market tab where you can buy things using your Credits and Argents from ANYWHERE. You do not need to be in the Observatory, or a city to use this tab. (Described more in detail in Part 6)
  • L - Order - Described in Part 2 in detail.
  • c+J - Your current mounts. Hold down J instead of tapping it to access this menu. You can choose any of your mounts, or purchase a mount from this panel.
  • The Gear Icon - Settings - You must click this from the Inventory panel. Allows you to customize your graphics settings, audio settings, controls (such as key bindings) and many more options for your Skyforge game.
