The Steam Awards - My Nominations

The Steam Awards

Active Between November 23-29

Here Is What I Selected for the 9 categories:

Do you agree? Read my descriptions below the pictures.

The "Test of Time" Award
Counter-Strike: Global Offensive

I purchased this game way before skins were introduced into CS:GO (The Arms Deal update). Before discovering Slayer's Gaming, I was more into the Competitive Scene before I stumbled upon Slayer's Gaming TTT on January 22, 2015 (I joined the forums on February 7, 2015).

Even whenever I'm not in the mood to play other games in my library, it just seems CS:GO is one I will always play almost every single day (which is true!)

The "I'm Not Crying, There's Something In My Eye" Award
Final Fantasy VII

Two scenes in this game caused me to cry.

SPOILER ALERT!

- Aeris's death.
- When Cloud gave Sephiroth the Black Materia causing the crater to explode and awaken the WEAPONS. I thought he died there, but I guess he didn't in the end. Heroes never die?

The "Just 5 More Minutes" Award
PAC-MAN Championship Edition 2

Sometimes when I am still awake, this is my go-to when CS:GO servers are empty. I didn't want to put Tower Unite here because it isn't something I would play for 5 minutes, but more then 30+ minutes at a time.

Trying to beat scores and getting those tough Rank S's are why I still (sometimes) try hard in this game.

The "Whoooaaaaaaaa, Dude!" Award
Killing Floor 2

The gore was literally the best part of satisfying my lust for this award. I never really cared too much about the cosmetic aspect of this game like CS:GO's. But, it still impressed me the greatest. I also liked the change in the Vanilla KF leveling system. It didn't feel too forced like others.

The "Villain in Most Need of a Hug" Award
Saints Row IV / Borderlands 2

This got my vote for two reasons:

At the start of the game, Cyrus Temple - he turns against the US with terrorists and launches a nuke. But, like the badass you are, you save Washington from nuclear destruction in the most awkward way possible.

Then, there is Zinyak. The best part of this villain after he destroys Earth was how much he mocked you for causing it. You then go after him in the most brutal way possible... and yes, he does deserve a hug after all the crap he threw at you.

Nothing else really gets this award. Borderlands 2's villain, Handsome Jack was really cruel too, but it wasn't as good as this. So honestly, I'll lean between those two, but I selected Saints Row IV for my overall nomination.

The "Game Within A Game" Award
Tabletop Simulator

Although I have never played this yet, with all the Workshop support this game supports, you could play many different board games in Tabletop Simulator with people you don't know. Although Tower Unite does the same purpose, I nominated that for a different category.

The "I Thought This Game Was Cool Before It Won An Award" Award
Tower Unite

Initially when Tower Unite was first launched, nobody in Slayer's Gaming really knew about it being GMod Tower's spiritual successor.

Then, I started telling other people about Tower Unite. Most of them rejected the idea until I started randomly giving copies to different Slayer's members.

Over the time though, the progression of this early access game has gotten others to tag along with me in their journey.

Consider this something I was trying to promote for Slayer's in the future, since we couldn't nominate other games that weren't on Steam for this category.

The "Best Use of a Farm Animal" Award
Goat Simulator

I don't have to really state this one, but literally the best use of a Farm Animal in any game is Goat Simulator, because literally it has goats and lots of awkward DLC's related to goats.

Here is an example. Goat MMO Simulator.

I never thought that any Game Developer studio would do anything this outrageous. It is so funny and I honestly thought that Goat Simulator deserves the cake on this game.

I don't own it, but I know judging by what I've seen on it, I know how great they use Goats in their content.

The "Make Up Your Own Category" Award
I put "Game With The Most Variety" for my option (since you write it in)
Garry's Mod

This last one I didn't feel was too original. But before CS:GO, I used to spend thousands (even though playtime on my steam account is 816 hours, but I also used a previous account before my account so it pretty much totals to 1,000+ hours.)

It's true that Garry's Mod had a ton of options to choose from. Whether it was the original TTT, the original BunnyHop, Climb, Sandbox, Parkour, RP (which I hate so much), and the old-school GMod Tower... you had a lot of things to choose from.

But, ever since I started buying lots of new games and stuff, I have yet to come back to this old school game. But, I know I will for sure!
